Documentary filmmaker and photographer Jess Colquhoun left Los Angeles where she resides to travel to South Africa. More precisely in the Valley Of A Thousand Hills as she eventually named her documentary and her photo series. Located near Durban and the east coast of Africa‘s southernmost country, this valley is made up of hills and villages of ancient Zulu communities. Isithumba is one of these rural villages and one of the few drop-off points of skate culture in South Africa, especially thanks to Dallas Oberholzer. This former professional native-born skater created Indigo Skate Camp in 2002, initiating young people from the region to try their hand at the plate while instilling essential values: living together and respect.
