Harold Feinstein, a figure of New York’s avant-garde in street photography, died in 2015. A few months later, a retrospective was made about his long career, the first part, entitled “Contagious Optimism“, is exhibited until 30 April at the Galerie Thierry Bigaignon, Paris. This first chapter reveals its sources of inspiration, including Coney Island. The New York Peninsula was its treasure island, because all types of social classes and skin colors came to it.
