In 1972 Danny Lyon went to El Paso to document the huge environmental issues occurred in this area after having been completely neglected during all the 60s. More specifically, he covered El Segundo Barrio, the poorest quartier of the city and one of the most unprivileged in the USA during the 20th century.
Here, an impressive series that would show why El Segundo survived to all his miseries. According to Lyon, the secret has always been the fervor and the passion of young people living there. Proud and spontaneous, like rough diamonds, they survived to destroyed buildings, depressingly empty streets and daily difficulties and extreme fortuneless.
