This shooting is a powerful visual answer to the question “What does it mean to be colored?”. The artist Lisa Minogue made her models posing very solemnly. This series is inspired by a conversation she had with a young model who was confronted to racism. The young woman did not understand why an agency refused her, saying that they already had “one of them” meaning a black woman. Lisa Minogue has always been very concerned with social issues as discrimination and culturel appropriation. With this project, she confronts us with this reality: there are 54 different countries in Africa and we never figure out that there might be also 54 different looks.
