Specialized in portrait and landscape, Ville Kansanen is a Finnish self-taught photographer who focuses most of his works on the loneliness and authenticity’s study. Through his series Procession of Spectres, he wanted to explore his own reconstruction after a depression episode. He describes his work as “pictural, minimal and melancholic surrealism that borrows from sculpture, cinema and a bit to graphic design”. His pictures were captured in Bonneville and the Death Valley to get a dry, windy, corrosive and cold decor. Thanks to this series, he won the International Photography Award for the category Fine Art Photographer of 2015.
